Jacob & Soccer

Julie and I are very, very excited about Seattle's new soccer team, and were watching eagerly last Thursday the inaugural game of the inaugural season of the Sounders FC. The game was nationally televised on ESPN, and the atmosphere sounded like a European game, rather than MLS. And, yes, we do realize it's only MLS, but we're super excited, nevertheless.

While we were watching the game, we started yelling and shouting and screaming at the top of our heads when the Sounders scored their first goal, that Jacob got a bit scared. A lot, actually! So in order for us to let him know that everything was ok, Julie and I started making YESSS and YEAH BABY sounds. Julie would shout YESSS and I would shout YEAH BABY, until he felt comfortable about it!

Anyway, then he started a game! He stood between us and started looking at his mom and shouting YEAHYEAHYEAH and waving his arms all over! Then Julie shouted YESSS back. Then he looked at me and shouted BABY until I shouted back YEAH BABY! And this went on for about 10 minutes! It was the cutest thing! Now we just know that he will grow up to be a sports fanatic, just like his parents!

Last night, on local news, they showed the Sounders practicing for their upcoming game on Saturday, and as soon as Jacob saw that, he started shouting YEAHYEAHYEAH and waving his arms again! He even looked at me and gave me a look like "aren't you going to join me and shout YEAH BABY?" :)

We HAVE to get him a Sounders outfit and take a picture! We'll definitely post that!
